Anirban is a postdoctoral fellow at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. His research interests are on the topics of great places to work, understanding the role of meaning in/at work and callings, wellbeing at work, aspects of diversity/cross-cultural management, and alternate ways of organizing. He teaches a wide range of courses in graduate and undergraduate programs.

The primary focus of Anirban’s current research is on understanding what makes great places to work. His objective is to develop a framework that guides leaders to create great organizations and that guides employees to seek out organizations great for them. Anirban also studies alternate forms of organizing and the implications for equity. He has presented his work at leading conferences in his field and won best paper (2019) and best symposium (2018) awards. 

Anirban is a co-investigator in a three-phase action research project that aims to improve engagement and retention of employees of a public sector organization. He is also a member of the Administration Team of another large scale research program, GLOBE 2020, which conducts research about culture, trust and leadership, across more than 140 countries, through a network of more than 500 collaborators.

Anirban teaches courses in graduate and undergraduate programs, ranging from Critical Thinking in Business, Organizational Behavior, Leading People and Organizations, Canadian Business Environment, Management of International Firms, Capstone Simulation to Finance. He has been inducted into the Faculty of Business Administration Teaching Honour Roll (2019) at Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, consistently being among the recipients of top student course evaluation scores. Anirban is also a co-investigator of a research into students’ teamwork skill development.

Anirban has business experience in audit, accounts, finance, strategy, and entrepreneurship over a period of 14 years prior to making a career change into academia. He has been in directorial and managerial positions in several organizations in the public (e.g., Steel Authority of India Limited) and the private sectors (e.g., Airtel). He is intimately familiar with the telecom, steel, and tea businesses. 

Anirban rejuvenates himself through yoga, and by hiking in the wilderness, listening to music and talks, watching movies, and travelling.
